January Events

January has few events coming up and there are less updates on events as we don’t expect a lot of changes. Most of the fans and participants are currently on vacation but we have experienced a vote for a play as we get into a new decade. Upcoming big CS GO Tournaments and Leagues

There are a number of tournaments and leagues to feature this January as the big CS GO is concerned.

DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020

The first one that will be enjoyed is the DreamHack Open Leipzig which is scheduled to begin on January 24th. The tournament is expected to feature at least 20 top teams which are yet to be announced.

There will be a two double-elimination format (GSL) Groups in this tournament. Each group will comprise of 4 teams with both the opening and winners’ matches being Bo1. The eliminating and deciding matches will be Bo3. The leading two teams in each group will advance to Playoffs. The playoffs will include single-elimination bracket and all the matches will be Bo3.The mixture of these top flight teams are to fight for the share of $100,000.

The winning team in the tournament will be awarded $50,000, the second $20,000 and the 3rd and 4th placed will each earn $10,000. The remaining prize will be shared amongst teams from 5th position to 8th. 5th and 6th will win $3,000 each while 7th and 8th positions will win $2,000 each.

The BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020

One of the best leagues to be enjoyed is the BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020. This league is going to feature around 12 teams which are going to compete in the coming month of February. The opening battle begins on 31st January with the teams battling out in the group stage and the final game scheduled to play on February 21st. The group stage will have three double-elimination (GSL) format groups with each group comprising of 4 teams.

The league is going to feature all the best top flight teams and it is expected to be a tough event. The list of the teams to feature in this event is already out and it includes the following 12 teams:

DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020

Just like the DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020, the DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 is another event lined up towards the end of January. The teams are yet to be announced but it will feature a maximum of 20 top teams which will battle out in group stages. The top two teams in a group of 4 teams will advance to playoffs. The playoffs will include single-elimination bracket and all the playoff matches will be Bo3. The teams will battle out for a prize pool of $100,000.

DreamHack Masters Jönköping 2020

The DreamHack Masters Jönköping 2020 will be a masterclass tournament scheduled for June 2020. The tournament will feature a total of 16 best teams. The group stage will be between June 9th and 11th 2020 with the format yet to be confirmed. The playoffs will take place between June 12th and 14th and it will involve a Single-Elimination bracket with the playoff matches to be Bo3. The teams will compete for $250,000 as the prize pool which is spread among the playing teams.

IEM Katowice 2020

The Intel Extreme Masters events will be organising several events this year with the world championship taking place between February and March. The group stage is scheduled to begin on February 2th and end on 27th the same month. The group stage will involve two double-elimination formats (GSL) Groups. Every group in this tournament will include eight teams seeded using the ESL CS GO world ranking. The starting matches will be Bo1 and the preceding ones being Bo3.

All the first three teams from every group will proceed to playoffs. The semi-finalists will include all the group stage winners while the runners-up in the group stage advancing to quarterfinals as the high seeds. The 3rd placed in the group stage will also proceed to the quarterfinals but as low seeds.

The playoffs will kick off on February 28th and will end on 1st March 2020. There will be a single-elimination bracket in the playoffs. The quarterfinals and the semi-finals will be Bo3 whereas the grand final will be Bo5. The tournament will include 16 competing teams that will be battling for $500,000 which is spread among them. The winning team will be awarded a prize of $250,000 with the remaining prize spread to the remaining teams.

The competing teams in the tournament include: Fnatic, Astralis, Mousesports, 100 thieves, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Virtus.pro, Team Vitality, FaZe Clan, G2 Esports, MAD Lions, Cloud9, ViCi Gaming and an Oceanic Qualifier which is yet to be confirmed.

There will be also Europe Minor Qualifier for the ESL One Rio which is scheduled to start towards the end of January. In this league, a total of 16 teams will compete for just two spots in the closed qualifier. It is an open qualifier where even lower-ranked teams are able to take part. The ESL One Rio 2020 Europe Qualifier will be a competitive tournament and great challenges are expected.
